Hong Kong Holds Online General Meeting
Soka Gakkai International of Hong Kong (HKSGI) streamed a general meeting on YouTube on December 6 to launch the Soka Gakkai’s theme for 2021, the “Year of Hope and Victory.” HKSGI General Director Ng Chor Yuk encouraged members to create a hopeful future, continue to strive in their efforts for self-transformation and work for a peaceful world.
Youth of South Korea and Japan Meet Online
On December 13, representatives of the young men members, including students, of Korea SGI and Soka Gakkai in Japan held an online exchange meeting to deepen friendship and a commitment to work for peace. The meeting included breakout discussions where participants shared how the pandemic has impacted organizational activities. A similar exchange meeting is planned between young women members of both countries.
Collaboration on Human Rights Education
On December 11, the Seikyo Shimbun reported that the Soka Gakkai Peace Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia will publish a Japanese-language edition of “Our Rights,” material for human rights education produced by the Government of Slovenia that has been translated into 20 languages and used in 26 countries.
SGI-Venezuela Holds Online Music Festival
On November 27, an online music festival was held in Venezuela in commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Soka Gakkai on November 18, 1930. With over 100 performers and staff, the festival included song and performances of Venezuelan music.
