The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin

We ordinary people can see neither our own eyelashes, which are so close, nor the heavens in the distance. Likewise, we do not see that the Buddha exists in our own hearts.

"New Year's Gosho" (The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol.1, p. 1137)

Nichiren Daishonin (1222-1282) wrote numerous letters, doctrinal writings and official treatises throughout his life, words overflowing great wisdom, courage and compassion. Even though they were written over 700 years ago in a cultural context and time period different from our own, the principles therein continue to resonate today for people across the world, offering wisdom, inspiration and encouragement that is universal and timeless.
