Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada’s Editorial: “Encouraging and Supporting One Another Toward the Soka Gakkai’s Centennial”
In his editorial in the November issue of Daibyakurenge, the Soka Gakkai monthly study journal, Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada writes about inheriting the spiritual legacy of our mentor:
November 15 marks the second anniversary of President Ikeda’s passing.
In April 1960, on the night before the memorial service commemorating the second anniversary of his mentor’s death, President Ikeda spoke with heartfelt conviction about the path of a disciple. “Even for those Soka Gakkai members who never had the opportunity to meet President Toda in person, his teachings live on—faithfully preserved in audio recordings, as well as in the pages of the Seikyo Shimbun and the Daibyakurenge. Those who purely and courageously strive to embody his ideals in action are his genuine disciples.” At that time, the Soka Gakkai comprised roughly 1.4 million member households, more than 40 per cent of whom had joined since President Toda’s passing.
The following month, President Ikeda was inaugurated as the third president. He set forth with these Bodhisattvas of the Earth, determined to usher in a great new era for the Soka Gakkai.
I wish to reaffirm my determination to inherit the spiritual legacy of the three founding presidents, manifest it with steadfast courage, and pass it on to future generations. With this resolve, I am wholeheartedly committed to spreading President Ikeda’s profound philosophy of human revolution far and wide throughout the world.
Now, just five years remain until we reach our centennial—the summit toward which our mentor in kosen-rufu so clearly guided us.
Let us continue to seek our mentor’s teachings with unshakable determination, encourage and support one another alongside our precious fellow members, and together create new and brilliant chapters in the personal history of our human revolution!
You’ll find the complete editorial in the November issue of New Century.

Quebec Region holds joint Montreal / Quebec meeting
Overcoming major last-minute obstacles, the members of Quebec Region held a joyful and enthusiastic joint meeting on Sunday, November 2 at the Montreal Culture Centre. This was the first general meeting of members from the Quebec City area together with the Montreal areas since the pandemic. Many of the members had not seen one another in person in over five years.
The activity was the result of much hard work and planning by leaders in all areas, and including chartering a bus to bring in members from Quebec City. The meeting featured exchanges, culture and food. A total of 198 practitioners participated.

SGI Calls for Global Solidarity to Address the Climate Crisis
On November 5, 2025, SGI issued a statement, “Mobilizing Global Solidarity to Meet the Challenges of the Climate Crisis,” in advance of the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), taking place from November 10–21, 2025, in Belém, Brazil.
