Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada’s editorial - “Summoning Forth an Invincible Spirit!”
In his editorial in the June issue of Daibyakurenge, the Soka Gakkai monthly study journal, Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada writes about Ikeda Sensei’s determination to encourage every single person he met:
In June 1985, President Ikeda traveled to municipality after municipality, ward after ward, throughout Tokyo. He joined the members in gongyo at culture centers he visited, demonstrating that prayer is the key to victory. Now is the time for us to respond to President Ikeda’s call: “Tokyo’s victory is everyone’s victory. It is my victory, too.”
This month marks the anniversary of the birth of first Soka Gakkai president Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, who taught that: “Faith is the wellspring of wisdom; through it we allow our lives to shine with their fullest brilliance.”[1] Let us summon forth an invincible spirit through courageous prayer, transform every adversity into a driving force, and soar toward the boundless skies of brilliant achievement.
President Ikeda visited the Kansai Ikeda Cemetery Park in Hyogo Prefecture for the first time in June 1990, using every precious moment to offer sincere encouragement to those around him.
It is actions grounded in the unwavering spirit of treasuring each individual that form the broad and immovable foundation of the Soka Gakkai. As disciples of President Ikeda, let us emulate his example by reaching out to one person after another, building a network of genuine friendship through warm and sincere dialogue.

The complete editorial will appear in the July issue of NEW CENTURY.

Young Lions and Young Phoenix General Meetings in June
In June, the Young Lions Group and the Young Phoenix Group will both hold their General Meetings.
The theme for the Young Lions Meeting is “Peace Starts with Me and You – We can chant for World Peace”. In her message for the meetings, Young Lions Leader Kumi Hardin says that “world peace may sound like it is something difficult to achieve, but it does not exist somewhere far away”[1]. She quotes Ikeda Sensei’s guidance that “where there are smiling faces, hope is created, happiness spreads, and peace shines”[2].
The theme for the Young Phoenix Group General Meeting is: “Your Heart is The Foundation of Your Future!” Young Phoenix Group Leaders Megumi Takahashi and Harold Hunter have encouraged YPG members across Canada to share their thoughts about why it is important to have a “good heart”.
The General Meetings for both groups will be held at the area or regional level across the country throughout the month of June. Please contact the Young Lions and Young Phoenix leaders in your region for more information.
