On the weekend of August 17, SGI practitioners held a most successful two-day men’s and young men’s conference at the Calgary Community Centre. Under the theme of "Unity and Friendship", over 50 attendees participated in small group discussions based on excerpts from SGI President Ikeda’s novel The New Human Revolution and heard many personal experiences. The Saturday session ended with rousing singing, the sharing of impressions of the day and determinations for the future. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere of camaraderie and openness.

SGI Canada General Director, Tony Meers who was also in attendance, presented thoughts and encouragement toward the upcoming basics study exam. At  the Sunday meeting, he  conducted a question and answer session with participants.

The Sunday meeting was an opportunity for everyone to invite guests. An overview of Buddhism and SGI was shared along with two faith experiences and a lighthearted skit.

The success of the conference was seen in the hearts of all the men and young men who participated as they move forward with their lives and contribute to kosen-rufu.
