39th anniversary of President Ikeda’s 1981 visit to Canada
This month marks the 39th anniversary of SGI President Ikeda’s second trip to Canada. Arriving in Toronto in June 1981, he spent five days meeting with members from all over Canada. Some of the activities included the commemorative general meeting in Toronto and the outdoor exchange meeting in the Caledon Hills. The visit was the first time members from across Canada met together with President Ikeda. It was the most significant event in the history of kosen-rufu in Canada since his first visit in 1960, which is recounted in the “Golden Autumn” chapter of The New Human Revolution, Volume 1.
President Ikeda writes about his 1981 visit in the “Bells of Dawn” chapter of The New Human Revolution, Volume 30. We are currently receiving the translations of that section of “Bells of Dawn.” SGI Canada plans to publish that section in the October issues of New Century, Ère nouvelle and Chinese New Century. From Today Onward will continue to serialize all of volume 30.
In October we will also be holding special events to mark the 60th anniversary of President Ikeda’s first visit to Canada in 1960, including our online Youth Festivals. More information to come soon!
Members and guests can subscribe to our publications (New Century, From Today Onward, Chinese New Century and Ère nouvelle) either through monthly Pre-Authorized Payments (PAP) or one-time annual subscriptions.
