SGI President Ikeda’s Editorial

“Creating a Symphony of Renewal and Harmony”

In his February editorial in the Daibyakurenge study magazine, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda writes of the great benefits of practising for oneself and others:

How incredible is the power and potential we can bring forth when we chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and work for kosen-rufu. By unlocking the highest potential of our lives, we can continue creating value, undefeated by even the most daunting real-life challenges. This is the path of putting faith into practice in daily life and Buddhism into action in society.

When we take action with the wish to repay our debt of gratitude to our mentor in a spirit of shared commitment, we can bring our lives in harmony with the great and wondrous rhythm of the Mystic Law, and experience the boundless joy of human revolution ourselves while helping others do the same.

When we chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo for ourselves and others, “with just that single sound,” says the Daishonin, “we summon forth and manifest the Buddha nature of . . . all other living beings. This blessing is immeasurable and boundless” (WND-1, 887).

Mail Delays for Publications

Canada Post advises that it has had to shut down a shift at its Gateway processing facility because of a COVID-19 outbreak. This may create delays in the delivery of mail, including SGI publications, across the country,. Please be aware that your mailed copy of New Century, From Today Onward, Ère nouvelle, Chinese New Century or Daibyakurenge may arrive somewhat later than usual.

Upcoming Events

First “SGI Online Study Lecture” by SGI Study Department Leader

During February and March, SGI Canada members and friends will be able to watch the first “SGI Online Study Lecture” by SGI Study Department Leader Masaaki Morinaka.

Mr. Morinaka’s lecture is based on SGI President Ikeda’s lecture from the series The Buddhism of the Sun—Illuminating the World, titled A Religion of Human Revolution—“The Heart of a Lion King”. The original lecture was published in the July 2018 edition of New Century. Copies of the original article as well as other supplemental material for Mr. Morinaka’s lecture will be sent out to all members shortly.

District level and up leaders will be able to show the online lecture in district meetings and at various additional meetings at all levels.

The English version of the online lecture is available from now until March 31. It will become available in the coming weeks in additional languages, including French, Chinese, Korean and Spanish.

We encourage leaders to make as many opportunities as possible for members and guests to view the online lecture and to have discussions together after viewings.

Information for leaders to access the online lecture will be sent before February 1. Please check with your local leaders at that time to find out when you can view the lecture in your location.
