Guitarist Chet Breau is ready to play after hitting rock bottom

February 13, 2019

Musician Lenny Chet Breau

CBC News Canada ‘‘Now or Never” program featured SGI Canada practitioner Lenny Chet Breau, who found himself in the hospital two years ago. He was then weighing 602 pounds and his body was shutting down from congestive heart failure.

“I’ve never had more of a lonelier time in my life, but it was also one of the biggest spiritual points in my life of growth… I had my bell and my beads and my book and every morning I would be chanting… I was chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo right til my last breath til they did the operation. I think that may have been something that had helped me to pull through… I had to hit a spiritual rock bottom physically, mentally, emotionally before I was able to really say, you know, I still want to be here and live life.

I started to be able to walk to the gym again and, you know, I can swim up to a mile now. I’ve lost about 184 pounds to date, working out and counting my calories every day.

I’ve come a long, long, way from the time I was in the hospital, which was 602 pounds and today I’m 418.2, to be exact. I am excited because I know for certain that I will be able to take more and more on, and I won’t stop until I am 200 pounds, in a suit, flying to my shows and singing and playing for people.”
