ARGENTINA: On August 15, SGI-Argentina held an online Future Division meeting joined by some 2,100 members. On August 17, the organization held an online leaders training course. More than 1,000 members participated and studied The New Human Revolution together.
NEW ZEALAND and PARAGUAY: On August 23, SGI-New Zealand and SGI-Paraguay held online Men’s Division meetings in commemoration of August 24, Men’s Division Day.
Namyangju, SOUTH KOREA: On August 24, a new SGI-Korea center opened in Namyangju in Gyeonggi Province. The opening ceremony was broadcast live for local members.
ONLINE: On August 29, Soka University in Japan and Northeast Normal University (NNU) in China held an online meeting to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the conferral of an honorary doctorate from NNU upon SGI President Ikeda. Soka Gakkai Vice President Hirotsugu Terasaki read a message from President Ikeda.
NETHERLANDS: On August 29 and 30, SGI-Netherlands held an online summer training course. Participants studied selected writings of Nichiren and discussed the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which aim to build a global society that leaves no one behind.
Taoyuan, TAIWAN: On August 31, for the 18th consecutive year, the Ministry of Interior of the Executive Yuan of Taiwan conferred an award upon Taiwan Soka Association in recognition of its contributions to society. The award ceremony was attended by Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen.
CANADA: On September 2, the SGI-Canada Women’s Division held an online meeting. SGI Women's Leader Yumiko Kasanuki shared encouragement with the participants.
ONLINE: On September 4, Seikyo Shimbun reported that the English version of the World Youth General Meeting website is now live. The English version of the video of “Eternal Journey with Sensei (The Song of Our Vow)” is also now available online.
JAPAN: On September 6, some 300 youth division members from around Japan joined an online Soka Gakkai peace summit. President Ikeda sent a congratulatory message. Youth representatives from SGI-UK and Soka Gakkai Malaysia joined and introduced their respective peace activities.
JAPAN: On September 8, the Women’s Division White Lily Chorus released a video of their performance of “Forever Sensei” to mark the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Soka International Women’s Center in Shinanomachi, and President Ikeda’s first visit to the center.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, JAPAN: On September 8, Soka Gakkai Hiroshima presented over 130,000 signatures collected since 2018 as part of the International Signature Campaign in Support of the Appeal of the Hibakusha for the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons to Toshiyuki Mimaki, acting chair of the Hiroshima branch of the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations. Soka Gakkai Nagasaki also presented nearly 7,000 signatures to the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Survivors Council, having previously contributed 80,000 signatures.
