Seikyo Shimbun Highlights for June 26, 2020
JAPAN: On June 18, Soka Gakkai youth representatives held their eighth teleconference with Professor Takeo Fujiwara of Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Associate Professor Yugo Shobugawa of Niigata University and the chairs of the Soka Youth Physicians Conference and the Soka Women Physicians Conference, discussing ways to coexist with the novel coronavirus. They highlighted the importance of encouragement and human connection.
THAILAND: On June 23, Soka Gakkai Thailand (SGT) Women’s Division Leader Usanee Kulintornprasert gave an interview in Seikyo Shimbun about the organization’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. SGT members are chanting daimoku for two hours, encouraging one person and studying Nichiren’s writings and SGI President Ikeda’s guidance each day. Members are holding online meetings across the country. In April, the SGT official YouTube channel was launched, introducing videos including SGI President Ikeda’s animated children’s stories. Members are contributing to society by distributing donations of cloth masks, food and milk.
