PANAMA: On May 3, SGI-Panama held an online meeting in commemoration of Soka Gakkai Day during which a message from SGI President Ikeda was introduced. On June 4, the SGI-Panama young women’s division held an online meeting to mark World Ikeda Kayo-kai Day.

Moscow, RUSSIA: On May 27, Lomonosov Moscow State University published an article on its official website commemorating the 45th anniversary of its conferral of an honorary doctorate upon SGI President Ikeda in 1975.

ARGENTINA and VENEZUELA: On June 4, a video of SGI-Argentina young women’s division members singing “The Vow of the Ikeda Kayo-kai” was shown during an online gongyo meeting held to commemorate World Ikeda Kayo-kai Day. On June 11, a video of SGI-Venezuela West Zone members singing “Forever Sensei” was released.

SPAIN: From June 5 to 7, Soka Gakkai of Spain held its 8th Symposium on Education online, joined by 180 members from 90 cities across the country. On June 6, Director of the Daisaku Ikeda Joint Research Institute for Education and Development (IEDDAI) Alejandro Iborra Cuéllar gave a lecture on SGI President Ikeda’s philosophy.

EUROPE: On June 6, the 1st European Youth Conference was held online to mark the Day of Mentor and Disciple in Europe, with 305 youth participants from 35 countries. SGI General Director Yoshitaka Oba and Women’s Division Leader Yumiko Kasanuki joined the meeting together with SGI-Europe Chair Hideaki Takahashi and Women’s Division Leader Suzanne Pritchard.

NEW ZEALAND: On June 7, SGI New Zealand held online general chapter meetings across the country. A video of SGI New Zealand’s Victorious March Band’s performance of “March Towards the 21st Century” was shown.

Cambridge, USA: On June 11, the Ikeda Center for Peace, Learning, and Dialogue hosted its second virtual dialogue “Asking Questions Together: What is Our Path Forward?” joined by 250 participants from 19 countries. Professor Ceasar McDowell of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, one of three featured speakers, stressed the importance of sharing personal experiences and introduced SGI President Ikeda’s dialogues.

JAPAN: On June 12, Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada announced that organizational activities in Japan will gradually resume from July 10. As the first step, each community center will open and screen a commemorative video of the 60th anniversary of Daisaku Ikeda's inauguration as the third Soka Gakkai President between July 10 and 26. Members will continue to receive encouragement through phone calls, letters, emails and social media.

FRANCE: On June 18, President of the Soka movement in France Robert Rescoussié gave an interview in Seikyo Shimbun about the organization’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March 2, all meetings and home visits have been suspended and centers closed across the country. Online meetings are being held, and the website is carrying SGI President Ikeda’s guidance and a video  lecture on Nichiren’s writing “The Daimoku of the Lotus Sutra.” Publications are carrying experiences of members working in the medical field who are fighting on the front line.
