CHILE: On August 2, SGI-Chile livestreamed its new video commemorating August 24, the day SGI President Ikeda joined the Soka Gakkai. The video was viewed by around 800 members.
BRAZIL: On August 10, some 950 Brazil SGI (BSGI) Women’s Division leaders joined a virtual study lecture on faith for a harmonious family. On August 20, the Men’s Division chorus group and the Ikeda Humanism Brazilian Philharmonic Orchestra released a video of their performance of “Song of Indomitable Dignity” to commemorate Men’s Division Day, August 24.
ONLINE: On August 20, Soka Gakkai youth representatives held their tenth teleconference with Professor Takeo Fujiwara of Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Associate Professor Yugo Shobugawa of Niigata University and the chairs of the Soka Youth Physicians Conference and the Soka Women Physicians Conference. They highlighted the importance of preventing discrimination against COVID-19 patients, starting from discussion among family members.
JAPAN: On August 21, it was announced that on August 24, Soka Gakkai Japan would launch the “Torch of the Vow for Kosen-rufu Campaign” in which Youth Division members engage in dialogue with their friends toward the virtual World Youth General Meeting to be held on September 27.
JAPAN: On August 23, the Soka Gakkai Youth Division in Japan organized an online meeting to listen to the testimony of a hibakusha. Sueichi Kido, secretary general of the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations, shared his experience calling for a world without nuclear weapons.
Tokyo, JAPAN: On August 26, the 46th Soka Gakkai Headquarters Leaders Meeting of the New Era of Worldwide Kosen-rufu was held in the Three Founding Presidents Conference Room at the Hall of the Great Vow. The new song “Eternal Journey with Sensei!,” composed by Youth Division members around the world, was officially released. SGI President Ikeda sent a congratulatory message to the meeting.
